Juillet
Wow time really flies! How has the first half of 2020 - the year that everyone wants to cancel - gone by so quickly?? 😱😱😱 Anyhow, I’m here to blog about my most favourite month in the year - JULY 🌟 It’s my favourite month in the year simply because it’s my birthday month and somehow I let myself loose for 31 whole days and just pamper myself like crazy. Of course given my current situation it wouldn’t be wise to be spending like so but after the global pandemic, I’ve come to a realisation that life is indeed too short so I spared myself some slack just this month.
I also won a giveaway on IG this month from @kikisreserve and Carol whom I tagged in the giveaway entry also managed to land her hands on a set of the Kiki Air’s Exclusive Travel Set with Customised Boarding Pass.
It was my first time trying the cocktails from Kiki’s Reserve (although we did order a set of them for the bff during her birthday as we were still in Circuit Breaker period) so I was very excited to try their latest set of cocktails that were travel themed. How apt given that we cannot even step out of the country at this point 🤣🤣🤣 Loved the customised boarding pass as well and this whole set of cocktails definitely made me feel as if I was on my way abroad!
This month’s highlight apart from the non-stop feasting by family and friends would have been the general elections held a few days before my birthday in Singapore and I’m ashamed to say that it was my first time voting in the general elections because I’ve either had to deal with a walkover in the past or I was out of the country so I didn’t vote. What with all forms of travelling coming to a standstill thanks to COVID naturally I was in Singapore this time round 😅😅😅 It was definitely a general election that will go down in history because of the increase in opposition MP that were elected in but I’m always up for diversity 💪🏻 May the opposition MPs show that they are indeed worthy of the votes received!
Here’s what you get in the travel set which comes with 4 cocktails
- Los Angeles (White Sangria)
- Tokyo (Raspberry Cucumber Sake)
- Paris (Parisian Martini)
- New York City (Manhattan)
My favourite cocktails out of the lot were Tokyo and Paris because both tasted very fruity and refreshing. Los Angeles is also quite palatable but I didn’t like New York City as it contained bourbon 😨 The moment I drank it the first thought that came into my mind was “omg cough mixture 🤢” but I still drank the cocktail up because it was a fairly small bottle.
I met le partner in crime for birthday brunch at Merci Marcel which is one of our usual hangout places after a long time because hey, we could finally dine out 😆 And this talented friend of mine surprised me with a hand drawn birthday card of 东华帝君 (+ a basket full of trinkets from Taobao) because I kept joking with her that I wanted him as my birthday gift 🥰🥰🥰🥰 I’m still not over this 东华帝君 phase even though the drama is long over because he is such an ideal man 😍😍😍 Dear love gods, please bless me with a real-life 东华帝君 tyvm!! I will love him as much as 凤九 loves him 💜 💜

The GZBs and I also had a belated birthday brunch at Platform 1094 which is a Harry Potter themed restaurant/cafe that I’ve always wanted to visit! Thanks for entertaining me 🤣 Overall I enjoyed the food and company but the restaurant is quite inaccessible as it isn’t near a MRT station (you have to either walk about 15 minutes or take a bus). Loved the decor though because anything HP is my thing ⚡️

Met the girls as well for a weekend to hang out at Lirong’s place and suddenly she whipped out a cake in the middle of our conversation for Juyin and I as our birthdays are 3 days apart 😱 Wasn’t expecting any more celebrations because it was almost the end of the month but so happy to have had a final cake to conclude the celebrations 🎂
Happy birthday too to my fellow TTR fan Juyin 😘😘😘😘 And thank you Lirong and Hidaya for organising it 🙆🏻♀️❤️
To end off July, the GZBs and I actually went to MacRitchie Reservoir for a hike. It wasn’t a very good start to the day because it was raining cats and dogs in the morning 🌩 I was totally up for cancelling it because I was too darn sleepy cos of the early morning call time but the girls decided to just press on. So we decided to meet for breakfast first in the Thomson area and in true blue “today is a PH" fashion, everywhere was crowded 😩😩😩
But I’m glad we managed to complete the 2 hour hike - covered in mud and all thanks to the rain in the morning 😡 - because I was so exhausted that night and slept super early after having insomnia pretty much till 3-4am daily.
Anyway, I had a very fruitful month with good food, company and activities so let’s hope future birthday months will be as good as this one!
Cheers to entering my thirties and let’s hope this decade becomes as defining as my twenties 🥂
