Korea Travelogue: Day 7 - Infinite Dongwoo's Family Restaurant
Annyeong! This is the bff here. I will be writing a guest entry for Paula because she is super overwhelmed by the 5-months-overdued Korea travelogue that she now has to complete before our Japan trip she invited me to (LOL). And since I am a bigger fan of Infinite's Dongwoo than her (but Hoya is still my bias. #yadongOTPftw), I shall help her share about our experience at Infinite Dongwoo's family restaurant, which is located pretty far from Seoul - it is all the way at Gyeonggi-do already and it will probably take about 1.5 hours to get there from Seoul. However, as we were visiting Nami Island that day, we made it a point to make a detour to the restaurant since we were already travelling to that area.
Directions
인창쭈꾸미 Inchang Jjukkumi (Dongwoo’s family restaurant) Address: 경기도 구리시 인창동 671-1 Contact: 031-551-7004 Take the subway Jungang Line to Guri Station. Get out of the station from Exit 3, turn right and walk straight. You should see a 119 station (aka a rescue centre, Korea's equivalent of SCDF) on your left as you reach the first junction. Next, you need to get diagonally across the junction, so you can cross towards the 119, turn right and cross again. Walk straight down again and turn left at the next (small) road you see and then turn right at the end of the road. The restaurant is along the shops on your right (the last one if I recall correctly).
Ta-da! Here's how the front of the restaurant looks like. Just look out for Infinite and Dongwoo's faces on the shop front!
As expected, the restaurant is filled with Dongwoo and Infinite's posters, photos, fanarts, fangifts and many more! Are they selling octopus or Dongwoo? kekeke.
We were mad hungry when we got there! Our last meal was the ddakgalbi at Gapyeong before we entered Nami Island! And that day was so cold, we burnt all our fats and were starving already even before leaving Nami Island. We had endure another >1 hour to get here ><.
Since there were 5 of us, we decided to order 2 portions of the Inchang Jjukumi (Octopus) and 3 portions of Samgyeopsal (Pork Belly). And 3 rice to share, of course.
More Dongwoos (all around you) to feed your eyes while you wait for the food!
And the food is here! (Salivating right now as I write this post) Looks really spicy right?
Photo with our food (feat. Dongwoo) as we wait for it to be cooked!
Dinner is served!
Personally, I loved it! Before coming to the restaurant, we heard reviews from Inspirits (aka Infinite's fans) that Dongwoo's restaurant is the most yummy among the all other member's family restaurants. I have visited Hoya's family restaurant that sells tonkatsu at Bupyeong back in 2013 (it has already closed down btw lol), and I have to agree that this is much more yummy!
Though I am not a big fan of octopus, it was really delicious! The octupus was chewy but not too hard (glad we didn't overcook it) and the spicy sauce was just too awesome! The samgyeopsal was okay too; you can't really go wrong with samgyeopsal tbh.
So how spicy was it? Stella and I are big fans of spicy food so we basically licked the plate clean (ok, not literally). But it was quite spicy even for us. We even added abit of water to dilute the sauce, but partly because it was drying up after the cooking. For Jacelyn who can't take spicy food, it was just too painful. We all had Dongwoo's sexy lips after eating the jjukkumi LOL.
Members of Infinite wrote (and drew) a congratulatory message for Dongwoo's parents. Check out the cute octopus and samgyeopsal drawing XD To sum up the message: Inchang Jjukkumi DAEBAK!
I sneaked a spy shot of Dongwoo's dad :P They look alike, don't they?
We were the last ones to leave the restaurant and it was almost closing time. And since we are all the way there, we asked Dongwoo's dad if we could take photo with him and he agreed!
잘 먹었습니다! We ate well! (:
Done with our dinner and fangirling~ Time to head back to Seoul!
If you were to ask if it is worth to make the trip to the restaurant, I'd say yes if you are a fan of Infinite or if you are heading to Gapyeong for Nami Island/Petite France. But maybe not if you don't have time to spare because it is really far from Seoul and there isn't really anything to see/do near Guri Station itself.
We were really dreading the trip back because it was so farrrrrrr and the weather was killer that day. The coldest day in our 15-days trip really D: We were almost dying at one of the train stations (which was open air) on the way back while waiting to transfer train back to Hongdae. The worst part was the frequency of the train was very low; we had to wait 15-20 mins for the train omg.
Okay, so that's the end of our Day 7!
The bff signing off (:
