Korea Travelogue: Day 13 - Lotte World

Day 13 Itinerary (Part 1)

  • Lotte World

  • 셀레돈포크와묵은김치 (Dinner)

Hi everyone! I'm finally on the last burst for this Korea travelogue *insert victory.jpg* I've actually finished editing all the photos and uploaded them, just need to churn out the respective entries for the remaining posts. OKAY *roll up sleeves* let's continue this travelogue.

Finally back in Seoul, we headed to Lotte World to spend the day at because Wanjun had never been to any theme parks in Korea while the rest didn't want to go to Everland. So Lotte World it is lol.

Directions

Take the metro to Jamsil Station, exit at Exit No. 4. Lotte World is connected to the metro station via an underground linkway.

Opening hours: 9.30 am to 10.00pm (varies)

It's actually my 3rd time here in Lotte World and having visited both Lotte World and Everland, I prefer Lotte World for their rides much more. Plus it has an indoor theme park to play in during winter so you don't have to freeze your butt off to take the rides although the outdoor theme park is still open so you can still opt to freeze your butt off while waiting in line for the rides xD

We actually deposited our bags in the locker because we didn't want to leave our belongings unattended while taking the rides and also too lazy to take any pictures with the cameras so all pics here are taken with my iPhone 6 lol.

What's a theme park visit without buying any head gear huh? It's really true what the dramas usually portray lol because all the locals had some form of head gear both men and women.

Robocop Poli! Anyone recognise this character as one of the triplets from The Return of Supermen's fav ^^

One of the better rides in the indoor theme park is the viking ship and let me tell you this is really not for the faint-hearted. I still remember vividly my first time on this ride back in 2005 and being scared shitless thinking the last few rows were nothing. Hell no please, it was way scarier than expected so ever since then I've only taken the ride by sitting nearer to the middle lol. Managed to take a rollercoaster after that too but no pics lol.

Grabbed the Col-Pop chicken from one of the stalls and it's similar to the NeNe Pop from NeNe Chicken here in Singapore but yummier! :P

Lotte World had a parade show at around lunch time but we didn't catch it as we weren't really interested in it. Headed to the outdoor theme park after filling our tummies because we needed the extra fuel to warm up our bodies. If you're visiting in winter, please remember to protect yourself from the weather conditions at the outdoor theme park. It gets even colder once you're on the rides too - don't say I didn't warn you lol.

It's pretty easy to navigate to the outdoor theme park via the signs then once you walk past the castle you're instantly in the outdoor portion of Lotte World.

Corn ^^

I don't really have much pics taken at the outdoor theme park because I was too busy trying to stuff my hands in my pockets to prevent frost bite lol plus we spent half the time queuing up for the rides (we took the Gyro Swing and Atlantis).

Got sidetracked by cute looking ice cream on our way back to the lockers. Did you see that cute Lotty popsicle!? So freakin' cute! I opted for chocolate though haha.

Anyway, left at around 4pm to head for our dinner appointment in Apgujeong with Hyunju. I would highly recommend Lotte World over Everland if you're into taking rides at theme parks or do not want to travel too far out from Seoul city. Otherwise, Everland is a good choice if you're travelling with young children as they have a safari over there and it will be more interesting for the kids. You can read more on Everland in my entry here.

Warm coffee to warm up our bodies and hands after the chilling rides at Lotte World.

Today's dinner venue is a restaurant in Apgujeong called 셀레돈포크와묵은김치. They do not have an English name so I can't really do a direct translation of the name cos it'd be weird. Do Google the address directly for the map to get there.

Address

서울특별시 강남구 신사동 654-3

Nearest metro station: Apgujeong Rodeo (refer to pic below)

Dinner was mainly Korean food or 'hanshik' and it was awesomely comforting in the cold weather! We had 2 jiggaes, 1 pork dish and egg rolls to share. It was pretty awesome although for the life of me I cannot remember why I didn't take a picture of the menu for the blog lol. Could be that Hyunju did all the ordering with the ahjumma so we all left it to her to select the dishes haha.

Had to include this because this was how the bff was taking pictures with her zoom lens as her kit lens was damaged in Busan (RIP Hoya's kit lens lol). It was quite funny how she had to stand so far away just to take pictures that I kept taking pics of her doing that for the next couple of days HAHAHAHAH don't kill me pls #bffs4eva

After our early dinner, we made our way to The Min's Cafe which was on our to-visit list of cafes owned by idols to visit. This will be kept to the next entry so till then, annyeong!
