Hey everyone! It’s the bff here again :P
I’m back because this entry is gonna be about
my husband JYJ Jae Joong’s cafe in Myeongdong. Sorry but you have to bear with the fangirling again LOL XD
Some of you may have known that Cafe J Holic is the second cafe that Jae Joong open; the first being Coffee Cojjee which was located in the expensive area of Cheongdam. It was located in the same building as the famous Korea celebrity hair salon The Red Carpet. Coffee Cojjee was really crowded the last time I was there in August 2013. Other than Jae Joong’s fans, there were usually people waiting around in the cafe to spot celebrities who go to the hair salon. But anyway, Jae Joong withdrew his investment in Coffee Cojjee in late 2013 and opened Cafe J Holic in Nov/Dec 2013. Okay, enough with the boring history :P
From Myeongdong Station, take Exit 6, turn left and walk down the famous Myeongdong street. Just walk straight on the main street to the 3rd T-junction (Nature Republic/Uniqlo being the first T-junction), and turn left into the smaller street. Next turn right into another small street and Cafe J Holic will be on your left. Do look up and spot the yellow signboard as the cafe is located on the 3rd and 4th floor. (Alternatively, you can enter from the 4th T-junction where you will see Laneige; turn left at Laneige then turn left again into the small street where Cafe J Holic will be on your right).
Address: 54-6 Myeongdong 2-ga, Chung-gu, Seoul, Korea (Level 3 & 4)
Look out for the yellow sign! You can enter the cafe from the MAG/MAG store – walk in and take the stairs up.
Here we are! You will see a mirror with the “HOLIC SOUL” tattoo on the way up. This “tattoo” is similar to the real tattoo that Jae Joong has on his back which says “TVfXQ SOUL”.
Come Cassies, let make a circle, hug and cry T_T So… on the 3rd floor, it is where the ordering counter, merchandise and most of the seating is. There is also a smoking room, meeting room, JH room and JJ Room on the 4th floor! (more…)
Hi, I’m finally back from Tokyo and back to finishing up my Korea travelogue entries lol. It’s just such terrible timing that South Korea has been hit by MERS but you can still KIV these places to visit in the future :/
Anyway moving on from the last entry, it was our last day staying at Travellers Planet so we all had some “errands” to run – Jace slept in, Stella went to find the Shinhwa Forest while the rest of us headed to Hangang to find the Infinite Forest. But not before trying out TP’s dish for the week – tteokguk!
TP cooks a Korean dish every Sunday for the guests’ breakfast and it was tteokguk that day, possibly because it was the first Sunday of the year and Koreans traditionally cook this dish for new year. I’ve never tried tteokguk prior to this and it was pretty yum. Gonna try and make some on my own because when I looked up the recipe it seemed quite easy and idiot-proof lol.
3 of us made our way to Hangang which is at Yeouido. It was freezing cold and there was no one there obviously. It was my first time at Hangang and we had originally included the Banpo Bridge/Hangang night view as part of the trip’s itinerary but the rainbow fountain show doesn’t show in winter hence we skipped it. Thankfully we decided to search for the Infinite Forest which happened to be located by the Han River/Hangang.
Upon stepping into this “park”, you’ll see a huge patch of empty land filled with
branches trees lol. Turns out those trees were planted in the name of their idols by fans – pretty smart move by whoever owns the park I would say to beautify the park for free – and as it was winter time, the trees were nothing but twigs and branches. Fans decorated the trees with ribbons and ornaments to make the trees look more nicer I guess lol.
Take the metro to National Assembly Station and come out at Exit 1. Walk all the way straight and cross into park.
First up would be the Girls’ Generation forest as you enter the park.
I obviously zoomed in to my favourite member Yoona’s tree :D It was a pretty funny sight cos 3 of us were taking pictures of branches non-stop, some passerbys who were there gave us very weird looks. Oops.
By the time you’re reading this entry, I’m already in the land of Rising Sun, probably frolicking somewhere in Harajuku or Shibuya lol. So the rest of the entries will have to wait till I return to Singapore because I’m
too lazy and procrastinate too much too busy planning for my Japan trip. Heh.
I mentioned in my last entry that after Insadong, four of us went back to Cube Studio Café because it was closed the first time we visited. Took the train to Cheongdam Station and made our way to Cube Studio Café, not before passing by MOLDIR for the bff to reserve her bag lol. The things we do outta love <3
If you look carefully, each stocking is labelled by girl idol group members names LOL. Ajumma, one Sunny stocking pls! :D
Took a different route to get to Cube this time, passing by the old SM Entertainment building which has since been converted into a training facility for trainees. You will most likely see the current promoting SM group splashed across the building to recognise it. And yes, I know it’s bloody long since Red Velvet promoted their 2nd single. They’ve since added a new member in and promoted another single fml.
Checked out the bags in this huge MCM store along the way as well. Didn’t see anything I liked so we all walked out empty handed. It seems that the brand is getting much more sales from tourists thanks to the Hallyu wave. And FYI, this is a Korean brand even though it has German origins. Just a fun fact lol.
Went in to use their toilet too lol. It was weird having the EXO advertisement play non-stop on the tiny screen inside the cubicle :/
Finally reached the café after much pit stops HAHAHA. It’s open!! THANK GOD.
