Laneige Birthday Treat!

Journal, K-Beauty, Make Up2 Comments;

Hello! I’m here to blog about the Laneige Birthday treat that I won last month hahaha.
We appeared on the Laneige SG’s Instagram that night lol! Thanks for beautifying my face hahahaha!
Really glad to have actually won this because frankly speaking I wasn’t expecting to win #sonegative
But my birthday month always seems to hold a lot of surprises for me (July babies FTW!!) and… yeah I won it despite the overwhelming response from many of the Club Laneige members born in July.
You can read about the birthday treat here or keep a lookout on Laneige SG’s Facebook page where they will announce the registration for the birthday treat. Good luck to the August – December babies yeah ;)
FYI this is only available this year because it is Laneige’s 20th anniversary so probably won’t have such events from next year onwards!
Ok, let’s move on with the entry! Eggcited much to be primped and pampered so well by the team of makeup artists from Laniege and hairstylists from Blow+Bar.
I invited the bff, Jace and Wanjun along for this treat because they were the ones I had in mind when I submitted the entry. So that Saturday after our Last Romeo class, we had lunch at Plaza Singapura before heading down to Raffles Place to get to Blow+ Bar.
We were gonna have a beauty makeover, express manicure and hairstyling as part of the birthday treat.
Oh and the cool thing about Blow+ Bar is that they actually have a bar concept where they serve alcoholic drinks to their customers. We all had either cider (Somersby!) or champagne (I was the only one drinking it).
Jacelyn and I did our makeup first while Sinhui and Wanjun did their hair first and then we switched places afterwards. Pretty fun to actually be getting makeovers from professional makeup artists despite me being a makeup addict because the techniques they used are pretty different from us mundane humans LOL!
The makeup artist who did my makeup that day is Cynthia. She’s actually stationed at the Laneige store in Tampines. I usually patronize the boutique store at Plaza Singapura because it’s on the NEL and more convenient for me to get home lol so it was my first time meeting her that day.
Here’s the palette I picked out for my eyes – Pure Radiant Shadow in No. 5 City Khaki
I wanted to go all full out smokey because I’m not very good at doing smokey eyes so I wanted to see how the makeup works on my eyes. Picked this palette because of that deep navy colour in the bottom right corner. Prettay! :D
But I do have to say the staying power of these shadows seem quite weak in comparison to other brands. The oils in my lids kinda made the shadows disappear after 3 hours. Boo. Maybe things will improve if an eye primer was used – Cynthia only applied a BB cream all over my lids as a base.
I actually told Sinhui to pick No. 7 Miss Twinkle. The moss green is really lovely, very autumn de feel hahaha! You will see her eye look later below.
Totally living the taitai life here haha! One person do my hair, the other doing my nails LOL!
And we all had a hair mask done during the washing. Relax max! Opted for large waves at the bottom of my hair to channel my inner Kpop star LOL!
Laneige also kindly prepared 4 bags of goodies for us! THANK YOU LANEIGE SINGAPORE :D Birthday girl gets the bigger bag hehe xD
This is Doreen, brand manager from Laneige Singapore who took care of us throughout the entire time.
Thank you dear! :)
Here’s me with lovely Cynthia who did my makeup.
Group pictures! We all really looked quite different with the beauty makeover hahaha. Oops :P
Individual shots of the girls – minus me because I was the photographer lol.
We left at approximately 6.30pm and went to the toilet to camwhore lol. Super zi lian leh we all but…. we were all dolled up and nicely made up so why not right?
Shoo-ed everyone out because we were attracting weird stares from everyone in the toilet lol and then we went out to the area outside and the sun was still up. Great lighting = photoshoot time lol! Yup, finished camwhoring in the toilet then headed to next location to continue HAHAHA!
We were trying to imitate Yonghwa lol! See reference below.
Spent a good 30mins to an hour trying to catch the last of the daylight before the sun set by taking OOTDs. I kinda failed very badly due to me being unable to pose naturally. Makes me salute those fashion bloggers  (You as well Carol if you’re reading this lol) who can pose so naturally for the camera.
So below were the… nicer shots we took that day HAHAHAHA.
Alright, that’s all for this post! Thank you Laneige Singapore for giving me and my friends this opportunity. I really enjoyed it a lot and am really grateful that we were all well taken care of by the team from Laneige and Blow+ Bar. And also to Melissa from Laneige who contacted me and telling me I was picked as the winner haha!
I’m really interested to explore more of Laneige’s makeup range. I have been a loyal user of their BB cushions – in fact I am still using the older version Laniege Snow BB Cushion – so I did pick up a Serum Intense Lipstick which I hope to review soon lol. *screams* Cheon Song Yi colour everybody!
Have also always been a loyal user of the Water Bank Gel Cream and I did pick up the eye cream and essence using my birthday discount last month so hopefully they will work wonders and make me look like Song Hye Kyo okay? xD
Anyway, do keep a lookout for my review on Laneige’s Pore Control BB Cushion coming up in the next few weeks! It’s part of my “BB Cushion Challenge” that I mentioned in my previous entry haha.
Alrights, annyeong! ^^

My 25th Birthday :)

Journal0 Comments;

I thought I’d better do this before July is over HAHAHA! I cannot believe it’ll be August so soon leh wah lau. How did time fly so quickly?!
So…. yeah a few weeks ago I finally turned 25 years old. Quarter of a century and…. OH EM GEEEEEE D:
I am still in denial even now lol.
My birthday celebrations started about 2 days before the actual day in the office.
We had durian cake as per our office norms because we all love the home made durian cake that my colleague bakes :D
Please pardon my bare face lol. It was a horrible day cos we had meetings in the morning and by the time we finished up everything it was lunch time. Hungry die me then lol.
I brought home about another 3 slices and devoured them over the weekend, the start of cake weekend cos I was eating cakes non-stop the entire 3 days!! THE HORROR.
Next day was a Saturday so as usual, headed for dance class haha.
Yup, #motd #makeupmess here with the bare essentials really. Usually I try and apply less stuff on my face when I go for dance lessons because they all go away by the time class ends – makes me look even more cui wtfffff D:
At night went out with the bf’s friends and gang to the airport for 4Fingers.
And erh, they ended up treating me to a matcha lava cake at a cafe in Bedok85 because it was almost midnight then so yeah, actual birthday haha.
I’m sad to say that not many knew it was my birthday the next day (sad truth of life to be honest…) but nevertheless, still happy to have been surrounded by close friends ya esp when the bf is not around.
It was still fun at the cafe, FaceTiming the chao bf who was at the club that night (insert eye daggers).
And this is the birthday cake that I bought for myself HAHAHAHAA
Yup, puking rainbows that whole week – my third rainbow cake in fact.
Doesn’t it look so colourful and yummy!? I swear this store has the best rainbow cake in Singapore!
I first tried Lynda Ann’s rainbow cake through Trevor who bought it near the guys’ Sunday soccer area. Somehow, I tried it and fell in love. LOL! Kept thinking about it and decided to just eff it and order my own cake for my birthday.
I mean what century already right? Why can’t I buy my own cake leh? LOL even though it is quite sad from another point of view but nvm… No bf to buy for me what to do :(
I actually went all the way to Bedok North Ave 3 to get it the day before my birthday and painstakingly took a bus home with it because there was no atm around and the chao cab driver that I flagged down didn’t have a NETS machine in his taxi.
Went to church that Sunday and after that had dim sum brunch with my family and grandmother.
Overordered too much food and couldn’t finish everything lol. So my dad refused to cut the cake at the restaurant so I brought it back to my grandmother’s place after that meal and chilled for awhile before ‘cutting’ it.
With the 2 beloved ladies in my life – grandmother and mother!
I always think that we should be grateful to our mothers on our birthdays because even though it is a happy occasion, she went through hell and contractions to give birth to us. So thank you Mummy for enduring all that shit 25 years ago that day! SARANGHAEYO :D
With le brother and my maid who brought me up as a baby
Group pic together with my cousin here too.
Yay! Noms rainbow cake wohoo
Typically, rainbow cakes just taste like food colourings or have this really synthetic feel in the mouth once consumed. I blogged about this previously how I hated that rainbow cake from Dean & Deluca.
But this, everyone, is just…. awesome. Lynda Ann’s does their cakes with the right amount of cake to give the person the actual ‘Hey, I’m eating a cake!’ feeling than those who bake measly flour portions that when you into it, you’re basically eating air only lol. I hope my descriptions are making sense ah! (Totally not a food blogger clearly…)
Yeah and the cream cheese that accompanies the cake is sugared to the right sweetness and not overwhelming at all.
Basically, just go and try it and you will never find another other rainbow cakes in Singapore that tastes better than theirs!
Ok, enough gushing about rainbow cakes.
Spent the afternoon with the bff, Jace and Stella who came over to use my nail polishes and makeup.
LOL I never envisioned girly bonding time to be as such because…. I basically did manicures for them -.-” and whose birthday was it actually? /raises an eyebrow/
All dolled up and ready to go sing us some karaoke!
Left the house about late afternoon and I drove us all to Cineleisure because we were having buffet dinner at Kbox hahaha.
Singing karaoke wohooo!!!~
My surprise cake with my fav Woodstock HAHAHA
The way they brought the cake in was epic funny! I was getting kinda bored because Jace & Stella disappeared for a really long time on the pretext of going to the toilet.
Turns out they walked to 313@Somerset’s Charlie Brown Cafe despite a branch at Cine’s level 4…
I got suspicious because they weren’t coming back after a super duper long time. Then I got thirsty and wanted to go get myself a drink.
Super good timing because I walked out before Wanjun and Sinhui could stop me and found the other 2 outside the door bringing the cake in LOLOLOL.
But nevertheless, thank you my gzbs!! :D
I am so not crying because I was touched. Stella blinded me with her camera’s flash and it was so darn painful!!!!!! T.T
Our pri school memories lol – shit we do when we run out of Korean songs to sing hahah
Ended the night at 10pm and we all went home because sad working adults like us had work the next morning boohoo.
They bought me a charm from Pandora :) The mouse on the far right.
My birthday month usually comes with alot of perks who try and make you spend even more during your birthday month – Juyin always says nevermind just spend because it’s your birthday, super good excuse to use lol!
Went to Laniege a few days later to utilise my 20% discount during my birthday month. I got really lucky and was picked for their birthday treat actually. Will blog that in another entry!
And then my chao dongsaeng Xuanzhi treated me to Yoogane the following weekend for dinner lol.
I should really update that entry I wrote about Yoogane because I feel like the service standards have dropped since :(
Really sad because I find the F&B service standards in Singapore to be really below par compared to other Asian countries.
I love eating out in Taiwan because they really know how to treat their patrons/customers well.
But oh wells, that’s life!
Anyway, if you read this then lucky you hahaha! Please note that Yoogane requires a min 2 portions for the food to be served in the pan yah.
No one told me that on my first visit -.-” Or maybe I didn’t hear it la. But yeah, found this only at the menu that they placed near the entrance of the restaurant.
The staff when taking our orders did not offer this information till I asked about it so… tskkkkkk!
Ordered the usual chicken dakgalbi and a portion of fried rice + cheese. Yum!
Helloooooooooo dakkies! (Dak is chicken in Korean)
Took this to send to Carol via Instagram HAHAHAAH! Evil la us lol. I also made XZ drink a bottle of makkgeolli with me that night too even though he was still a little hungover from the night before.
Fried the rice and cheese when we were done with the chicken! YUMMMMMMMMMY!
Thank you XZ for the treat haha! Noona will be nicer to you in future wahahahaha~
Ending this post with my Disney nails, design by Janelle (/elleandish on Youtube). You can link the tutorial here. I spent the whole afternoon doing them painstakingly (clearly not enough gong fu lor haha) but it’s okay, I’m quite pleased with the outcome of it.
Well, that marks the end of my birthday celebrations. Nothing really special now that we’re entering August soon (boooooo gotta wait another 11 months till next year’s birthday HAHAHA) but I hoped you enjoyed reading this.
BYE! ^^

A year older, a year wiser as well

Hi, I hope everyone is still here /cue cricket noises/
I’ve been swamped daily with… I dunno what.
Don’t really have much to do at work because I did something drastic a couple of weeks back by tendering my resignation, which will come in another entry if I’m really bored shitless at work HAHA!
So… I finally turned 24 years old 2 weeks back. I FEEL OLD.
This is just a collective entry on what my friends and family did to celebrate my special day.
First up, stupid email from work.
I have a love-hate relationship with my job and the people here.
Used to mock these emails because they are quite useless (not like they’re giving me a voucher to spend or something) but yeah… here’s mine.
Came on the Friday before my actual birthday.
Met up with Yvonne for dinner that night to celebrate my birthday and my resignation (YES,FINALLY LEAVING WOHOOO!!!) at Superstar K BBQ Restaurant along Tanjong Pagar Rd.
I previously brought her to Togi Restaurant at Mosque St because she wanted to try the rice cakes and at the recommendation of my bff, we went there because I’d never been there either.
It’s…to put it nicely, not to my liking. Neither did she enjoy the meal too then.
So I told her I’d bring her to Superstark K BBQ Restaurant instead because I really like their food here!
Attempted to make a reservation prior to that day but they do not take reservations on weekends I was told.
We managed to get a table for 2 after about 25 mins wait despite being told we had to wait an hour so yay to us! :D

Ordered 2 portions of pork, 1 kimchi jjiggae and a bottle of Cass beer to share!
Complimentary steamed egg which is like damn nice I always finish this up no matter what.
Our bill came up to approx $60+ and Yvonne paid because she wanted to treat me as a birthday gift so dessert was on me! :D
Onward to a cafe, Group Therapy, for more gossip lol!
We both ordered 2 different types of dessert to share.
Surprisingly for a Friday night, the place wasn’t full and we had a good time sitting there till late to chit-chat and talk nonsense like we used to haha!

Flourless Chocolate Slice with Vanilla Ice Cream $7.50
Belgian-styled Waffle $12
The cake and waffle were so nice and yummy!
Didn’t know flourless cakes could taste nice too, kinda like a tarty kind of texture?
Yeah and the waffle was soft and fluffy!
Good job Paula for finding this place on Google lol! /pats self on back/
We went home quite late that day, around 11 plus and after reaching home I was dead on tired :(
Showered and was ready to head to bed because I had a long day the next day early in the morning but the bf showed up with….
You can check out my Instavid on my Instagram for this.
Really shocked to find this because I hadn’t expected anything from him at all (we don’t have a habit of buying gifts after being together for so long).
Le bf asked me what I wanted for my birthday and I told him I wanted a minion which in my mind translated to a minion cake like this with a rainbow interior lol but he got me a toy instead ROFL!
Technically he’s not wrong la, since it really is a minion HAHAHAH!
And bff texted me first to wish me as well.
That’s the LINE app btw which.. I kinda forced them to use because the stickers are so freaking cute and since I already paid for them might as well right HAHAHAH!
I always talk to my bf with stickers alone and ask him to guess what I’m trying to say lol!
Dear friends reading this, use LINE too leh! Show you my stickers HAHAHA.
I have Stitch, Psy and 2NE1!!! :D :D :D I’m secretly tempted to buy more but I think my bf will kill me :x
Ok, digressing too much.
On my actual birthday on Saturday, I went to give tuition early in the morning because I was meeting bff for brunch later on in town.
Went to Wild Honey and when I walked in to see this…
And behind it was Jace! LOL! Shocked to the max because I wasn’t expecting her there.
Thanks love :D :D :D :D

Playing with food lol
Moved on to atas tai-tai shopping at Takashimaya where Jace and I almost caved in to buying skincare/makeup on Level 1 but stopped ourselves and we went to Coffee Bean to sit down and rest like a boss.
Ordered a cake to share without thinking much then it came with my name on it :’)
The staff sang a birthday song for me too with the girls and then.. we spammed many polaroids (favourite hobby after buying makeup for me!)
Yup, we took that much pictures!
From bff’s Instagram :)
From my Instagram
That night my dad asked my uncle and aunties and cousins for dinner near my place to celebrate my birthday.
Mum was sick tho :(
And the next day the bf’s turn to bring me out for dinner! :D
We went to Lei Garden Restaurant at CHIJMES after my double tuition.
Mad tired but happy to spend time alone with him.
Not much pictures of the food because they are all in my DSLR and I’m lazy to upload them HAHAHA!
My date for the night
Crabmeat Xiao Long Bao $6 each
Peking Duck Skin! :P :P :P NOMS!
We brought Dave out with us too HAHAHAHA!
And that concludes my 24th birthday celebration!
Thanks to all who wished me on all forms of social media and smsing me!
Really appreciate it :)
As I grow older, I realise the number of people who actually remember your birthday decreases.
People really grow apart but we shouldn’t dwell on such people but cherish those who actually remember them like the back of their hand.
I made a huge decision just days before I turned 24 so I wish for an awesome year ahead till the next year when I’ll be a quarter of a century old!
